Dr. Leah Light is founder and director of Brainchild Institute in Hollywood, FL. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education and Master of Science and doctoral degree in Audiology. Dr. Light is a member and certified by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA), American Academy of Audiology (AAA), Florida Association of Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists) (FLASHA) and Florida Academy of Audiology (FLAA). Having worked with almost every aspect of hearing loss and impairment from newborns to seniors, Dr. Light has extensive clinical expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of hearing loss, vestibular dysfunction, and other auditory related disorders. In addition, she has worked as an integral part of child development and patient management teams.
Over the past 23 years, Dr. Light’s focus has centered on neurodevelopmental audiology and Central Auditory Processing Disorders (CAPD). In addition, Dr. Light is a certified Core Specialist in the Masgutova Method (MNRI), a program for addressing retained primary reflexes, which are often at the root of communicative disorders and learning disabilities. As a neurodevelopmental specialist, Dr. Light has participated as a guest speaker for the American Academy of Audiology and the Florida Academy of Audiology. She has also written articles for local magazines and newspapers including South Florida Parenting Magazine and The Autism Notebook, and was recently featured in The Miami Herald. In addition, she authored a chapter in the book, Auditory Processing Disorders: Assessment, Management, and Treatment.
Dr. Light’s mission is to improve listening, attention, and learning skills in children of all ages by addressing the whole child starting at the foundation of their neurodevelopment.
