Dr. Leah Light of Brainchild Institute engage in Bal-A-Vis-X with this little champ! Bal-A-Vis-X stands for Balance-Auditory-Vision-eXercises. This series of exercises which promote crossing of midline in three dimensions, and encourages interhemispheric integration. Communication between the right and left hemispheres of the brain is crucial for neurodevelopment. These exercises are steadily rhythmic, with a pronounced auditory foundation, executed at a pace that naturally results from proper physical techniques. Bal-A-Vis-X enables the whole mind-body system to experience the symmetrical flow of a pendulum. Children are taught impulse control as they must wait to move the racquetballs or bean bags to the beat of a metronome. As a child masters the various Bal-A-Vis-X exercises difficulty increases to keep them engaged and challenged. This intervention may take place one-on-one or in a group setting.
