Hearing Aid News at Brainchild Institute
Here at BCI, we diagnose and treat children and adults with hearing loss using the most up-to-date, digital hearing aid and assistive listening technology available. We work with the top hearing aid manufacturers to provide you with the most technologically advanced and cost effective hearing aids available on the market that are best suited to your unique listening needs.
In recent years, hearing aids have become nearly invisible and are lighter and more comfortable to wear than ever. New advancements have also allowed us to virtually eliminate most hearing aid user complaints such as feedback (whistling) and echo effects. Better options now allow for anything from waterproofing to rechargeable batteries. In addition, newer hearing aids are so "smart" and user friendly that they can actually self-adjust in different environments without the user ever pressing a button.
What Are the Steps for Getting Hearing Aids?
- Your comprehensive hearing evaluation is performed by a licensed, certified Doctor of Audiology.
- Based on your specific hearing needs, a hearing aid consultation will follow testing to discuss your hearing loss and the most appropriate hearing aid technology available to you.
- Once ordered, your hearing aids take approximately one week to arrive from the manufacturer and a dispensing appointment is scheduled.
- The fitting takes about one hour, and we will digitally program your hearing devices to suit your individual needs, based on your hearing loss and your lifestyle.
- A follow-up visit is scheduled for 1-2 weeks after the initial fitting to answer questions and see if fine tuning adjustments are needed.
- Hearing aids are now affordable for everyone! Ask about our Care Credit Plan to make manageable payments for your new hearing aids.
